Source d'extraction	The root of Isatis indigotica Fort. and Isatis tinctoria L. (Brassicaceae); or the rhizome and root of Strobilanthes cusia (Nees) O. Kuntze (Acanthaceae).
Raw Material Introduction	A biennial herb, about 50–100 cm tall, glabrous and often covered with a powdery coating. The root is thick, subconical, yellowish-brown on the surface, with short transverse wrinkles and a few fibrous roots. Basal leaves form a rosette, oblong to broadly oblanceolate, apex obtuse, margin entire or slightly repand, with rounded auricles or indistinct ones. Stem leaves at the top are broadly linear, entire, sessile. Racemes terminal or axillary, arranged in a panicle at the branch apex; sepals 4, broadly ovate or broadly lanceolate, about 2–3 mm long; petals 4, yellow, broadly cuneate, apex nearly truncate, margin entire, base with indistinct short claws. Silicles suboblong, flattened, glabrous, margin with membranous wings, especially wider at both ends; valves with a midrib. Seeds 1 per locule, oblong, light brown. Flowering period: April–May; fruiting period: May–June.
