Main Distribution	Grows in sandy areas along riverbanks, mountain valleys and slopes. Distributed in Liaoning, Jilin, Inner Mongolia, Gansu, Shaanxi, Shanxi, Shandong, Henan, Hebei, Jiangsu and northern Anhui, etc.
Морфология растений	Perennial herb, 1–2 m high, whole plant containing latex. Stem erect, glabrous. Leaves opposite, elliptical or oblong-lanceolate, 2–5 cm long, 0.5–1.5 cm wide, base rounded or cuneate, apex obtuse with a mucro extended from midrib, margin slightly revolute, smooth and glabrous; petiole short. Cymes at stem apex or on branches; bracts small, membranous, lanceolate, apex acute; calyx 5-lobed, lobes lanceolate or triangular-ovate, about 2 mm long, pubescent; corolla pinkish or pale purple, campanulate, lower part tubular, upper part 5-lobed, with 5 coronae at base inside corolla, nectaries on disk margin; stamens 5, anthers poricidal; pistil 1, stigma 2-lobed, green. Follicles long-horned, yellowish-brown with purplish blush when mature, 10–15 cm long, 3–4 mm in diameter, dehiscing along thick veins when ripe, releasing seeds. Seeds numerous, yellowish-brown, approximately jujube-stone-shaped, with a tuft of white slender hairs at apex. Flowering period: June–July. Fruiting period: August–September (Northwest, Northeast China).
